Volunteers and community groups celebrated at second Harborough District Community Awards

 

Celebrating Local Heroes: Harborough District Community Awards 2025

People from across the Harborough district have been honoured for their outstanding contributions to their communities at the Harborough District Community Awards 2025, held on 9 October at Lutterworth College.

This year’s awards recognised individuals, groups, and businesses that make a real difference to local life. Nominations came from across the district, with winners selected by judging panels made up of council officers, Voluntary Action LeicesterShire, Harborough Youth Council, local businesses, and the Market Harborough Chamber of Trade and Commerce.

🏆 Winners included:

  • Voluntary and Community Group of the Year: The Well

  • Young Person of the Year: Ryan Johnson

  • Volunteer of the Year (19–59): Sarah Joyce

  • Volunteer of the Year (60+): Frank Cooper

  • Citizenship Cup: Tor Berry

  • Stronger Together: Workplace Impact Award: CafĂ© Fifty Five

  • Business–Community Impact of the Year (New Award): Welcomm Communications

The Chamber proudly sponsored the new Business–Community Impact Award, celebrating local businesses that give back to their communities.

Dr Gareth Thomas, President of the Chamber, said: “We’re delighted to support these awards, which highlight the businesses and individuals making a meaningful impact across the district”.

Special thanks were also given to Inspector Liz Perry for her exceptional service, recently recognised nationally as Police Officer of the Year.

Harborough District Council confirmed plans to run the awards again in 2026, continuing to shine a light on the people and organisations who make Harborough a special place to live and work.
